As much as I want to hold on to summer, fall is all around – almost like Christmas. I’m begging the sun gods to hold on a little longer so I can enjoy smooth days at the beach until October. But it’s been pretty chilly the past few days. Which has made my closet choices a bit more fall-y. The two trips I took to Lisbon (seen here and here), were a whirlwind. But I took a few hours each time to browse through the fall collections in person. Ultimately, it resulted in me buying a few key pieces and fall essentials I was coveting – and apparently will be wearing right now.
#1 The Leather Jacket
This feels like a duh moment. But it’s not. I’ve had a leather jacket for years (seen here, here and here), but wasn’t too keen on the shape and sort of faux leather. Two years ago, I tossed it on the side. And this summer, felt like it was the perfect time to replace it. As an important item on the fall essentials list, I hunted down the perfect leather jacket. Many stores were perused until Zara (another duh!) had the one. I’ll be wearing it tirelessly for the next few months.

#2 The High Waisted Pants
High waisted pants were one of the biggest finds, back in 2009, for me. I’ve had a pair of khaki, dark blue or high waisted jeans ever since. Recently, I got an even higher pair from Mango. When I saw them hanging, thought the fit would be all wrong. But turns out, they are perfect. Especially with cropped tops and a jacket hanging on your back.
#3 The Stacked Golden Jewelry
I’ve been wearing lots and lots of jewelry. Case in point. Stacked necklaces. Golden hoops. Oversized earrings. Silver hoops. You name it. The only thing I still haven’t mastered is the hand. My husband gave me an engagement ring last Christmas, which I wear with a diamond band that belonged to my grandmother. I don’t often wear either. Hands are not my forté. Anything else, I’m game.
