Let’s talk about 2010. I went to one of my favorite stores back in Portugal. Browsed around and found an amazing, beautiful pair of high waisted chino pants. I tried them on with a bordeaux tank top and off I went to buy both pieces. At the time I was really into wearing my (first pair of) Keds, so that’s what I paired the ensemble with. I remember being mocked a bit, saying I looked like an old lady, that I was wearing a bag of potatoes. So on. But I loved those high waisted chino pants.
I wore them so much and can’t even remember the last time. Unfortunately, have no record of it, but it’s engraved in my mind how at ease I felt. Recently, I went on a hunt for a similar pair and off I found these. They are slightly slouchier than the previous pair I had, but ever since getting them, I haven’t taken them off. They are comfy, loose and tight me up in all the right places. And the same day I got them, I also got this beautiful jacquard coat.
I thought they looked perfect together and immediately had another flashback. Circa 2008, when the first Sex and the City movie was released. This image popped in my mind. And as one of my favorite outfits of the entire movie, you can imagine my excitement, where I was finally able to (sort of) recreate one of the most iconic looks. Of course I gave it a little extra pop with the leather shoes, but loved the result. I’ve already worn the outfit 5 times with these and these sneakers. When you know an outfit is a winner, you know it.
