4 Healthy Ways to Start the Day

One of the things I cherish the most is waking up early. Which has been impossible lately. I’m an early riser and always have been. But my body goes through several different phases where it just seems impossible. What’s up with that? I have a serious routine when I wake up, but can’t seem to get excited or motivated about it. I always thought I was on the right track to maintaining healthy ways to start the day.

Ever since we got Poppy, we had to manage our schedules a bit around him. But weirdly enough, he’s not a morning walker. He usually sleeps (a lot!) in the morning and all his energy is stored for later in the day. So that gives me no necessary purpose to get out of bed. I usually take my computer into my room and stay there for a few hours, working. But soon realized, it’s not an ideal way to start the day.

I got on my research cap and started looking through the internet. I even did an Insta Story and got some pretty cool tips. Even though I already have pretty healthy habits, a few things were – apparently – missing. Something I’ve always tried to ignore and never thought I really needed. Vitamins! My parents were never vitamin people and they are pretty damn healthy. We never had them in our house, unless someone was sick and needed an extra C boost. But other than that, we never focused much on it.

Then when I started dating my husband, his family was the opposite. Everyone was taking their vitamins for all sorts of different things. I always had the (wrong) assumption that you only take vitamins whenever you’re feeling sick. But that’s as reckless as thinking you should only apply moisturizer when you have dry skin. Or SPF when you’re going to the beach. It’s more of a preventative thing than anything else. With that said, here are my 4 healthy ways to start the day:

This might seem like a duh moment. But there are so many people who skip breakfast. I understand that some might not be able to put food in their system right after waking up. But it’s such an essential element of our mornings. I love breakfast. And even though I don’t eat right as I wake up – I’d rather have a glass of water and some tea – I never go a day without it.

Especially after reading this Man Repeller article, which I pretty much was figuring out. As soon as I wake up, I wash my face with water and moisturize it immediately. Whether you are going out or not, it’s an imperative step. And I’ve been noticing some visible changes – less redness, less lumps and more luminosity.

It seems a bit counter intuitive nowadays. But I’m seriously putting an effort to not go on social media as soon as I wake up. It used to be the single first thing I did, but now, I’m refraining from it and only try to pick up my phone when I go on the computer or even after breakfast. My anxiety levels go a bit down if I don’t worry about the paradisiac destination someone else is at.

I’m writing down this one the same way I would in my agenda. Because I haven’t started, but really think me and my husband should. Not an overload, but just a few to try out and see how we feel after a couple of weeks. Luckily enough, I found this website and I’m super curious to see the result. An uncomplicated way to understand which vitamins we actually need through our specifications and lifestyle.
