Two Years of Marriage

Today marks our two year wedding anniversary and, it’s always a thrill to think we’ve come this far. I’m not going to repeat myself with describing the day but rather remember it fondly and focusing on what we are building: a marriage. I thought it would be fun to tell you five random facts, that you might not know, about mine and M’s relationship.

We both come from the same hometown and met when we were around 5 or 6. M was friends with my cousin and we played together several times. Growing up, we used to see each other sporadically, going out or at school and I always thought he was really cute.

Not anything too aggressive but, sometimes to blow off some steam we like to get into cute little fights where I end up hurting M. They are the best though.

The first year we dated was really rough. M was playing tennis professionally at the time and used to travel constantly, which put us in the background. I was in Lisbon doing the second year of my Master’s Degree and it got really tough for a few months there. We were about to mutually break-up but could not bring ourselves to do it because we cared too much about each other.

Yes! It was in the very beginning of our relationship, I travelled with him to a tournament and he injured his back pretty badly playing a match. He won the match and had another the day after but, when he woke up in the morning, he could barely move, so I had to dress him in his tennis clothes and, let’s just say, it’s not something you expect to do so early on in the relationship.

He’s more of a sports, objective guy, I’m more the analytical and creative type and, while it leads to some of our fights, we can’t deny it’s something we love about each other. Mainly because it challenges us to do and consider things we wouldn’t normally – like watching a tennis match for me or going to a museum for him.
