First Things Primer

After I talked and reviewed three concealers I thought I would tell you about my primer experience, which has been short but intense. The first primer I bought was last September for a friend’s wedding. I had been reading about it but didn’t actually know what it was for and when I ventured to get one, the woman at the store said it was to be used after the foundation – big mistake! After a few months of readings, researching and tutorialing, I came to round up three very different primers.

The Dior Glow Maximizer Primer had me at hello. Especially now during winter, it gives my skin a necessary light and glow, while prepping it for the remaining of my make up routine. It also sculpts and highlights the contours of your face and, as an extra boost, sometimes I apply it after all my make up is done at the crease of my cheekbone for strategic light amplifier.

The Too Faced Hangover Replenishing Face Primer has been a dream come true. From the texture, to the smell and rapid absorbance, I’ve been living in it. This little baby smoothes, brightens and hydrates my skin and, I especially feel it works well because it’s parabens, sulfates and phthalates free. This is definitely my top choice of the three.

The Nars Pro Prime Pore Refining Primer is my most recent experiment and I’m still using a sample that came with the purchase of their foundation. This is the total opposite of the Dior Primer, leaving my skin completely matte and helping me blur all the fine lines and wrinkles – especially around the eyes. Again, one of the things that makes it work really well with my skin is the fact that it’s alcohol free, hence less drying and more hydrating.
