Book Review: Cupcakes and Cashmere at Home

It’s becoming more and more common that lifestyle bloggers write highly well-curated books about everything and anything they have been writing for the years they’ve been blogging. Since I’m an avid blog reader, and always was, I follow them off screen to one of my favorite means of press: books. I have a vast collection of these books, and actually attended my first signing late last year.

I found the blog Cupcakes and Cashmere in 2011, through a search for lifestyle blogs, and have been a reader ever since. Emily Schuman, the author, has been blogging since 2008 and already has two books, a clothing line and many other projects in store. It’s funny how you can feel so connected to a person you’ve never met and, I live under the illusion that we could become best friends.

I pre-order her second book, Cupcakes and Cashmere at home, as soon as it was available and got it a few months later and, very similarly to the first book, I loved it. It was funny to see how a few of the tips she writes about, I already had implemented by myself (i.e. using nail polishes as decoration accents, organizing your refrigerator, decorating shelves with unexpected accessories). It’s a very specific book about life at home and how you can go about decorating, throwing dinner parties and making life easier.

I love the design, her easy-to-read writing and the way she goes about most aspects of her life. She feels very european-relaxed and gives you great advice on how you can navigate home life, easily and in a relax manner. It’s also a great coffee book table or accessory to decorate your desk or bedside table.
