The first beret I bought was 15 years ago. Picture this: white turtleneck, under a black v-neck knit, burgundy tie, some high waist suit pants and black pointy boots. Top it all of with a black beret. I felt like a true lady boss going to school. I was 15 and experimenting with my style. But this look stuck for the whole 11th grade. Fast forward to winter 2017, and berets are back. Wish I’d known how cyclic fashion was and I would have kept all my collection.
My hair is extremely unpredictable. I never know where the day takes it. But one thing’s for sure: a beret helps keep it in place. As long as I don’t remove it. You might’ve seen it pop up here, here and here. People seem to like a pop of red in the picture, because this was one of my top performing images last year. I like it too. So much so, that I ventured out on the interwebs to find you all the beret options I could find.
I’m still on the lookout for two more colors and even different variations. Although I love a good beanie, a beret adds so much more personality. Any francophile will tell you how this accessory changes your look completely. French style is an ultimate source for inspiration. Mainly because it’s such a simple, yet poetic way of getting dressed. And while I’m far away from being in that style category, I can certainly vouch for it and create my own.
