Episode 17: We Spent the Night at the Beach

It all started around 14 years ago when I first went to Banho 29. Every year, in my hometown, there’s a party on the beach on the 29th of August. It’s been happening for years, but the first time I went, I was 14. I just started hanging out with a new group of, older, friends, and they organized to go to the party. It’s the one time of the year we are allowed to have a camp fire on the beach and stay there all night.

It was an epic night and I still remember it to this day. We drank, danced, sang, swam and saw the sun come up. It’s amazing! Every year, it became a tradition. We would spend the day at the beach, get some pizzas and start gathering somewhere to enjoy the night. But for the past 5 years, I either wasn’t here or had something that kept me from going. Naturally this year, I was indeed here and nothing was going to stop me from enjoying a night at the beach.

Part of the same group was there, but I went with some other friends. We hung around close to them, sat in a circle and played games until 6am. I was drunk, the night felt short, the music was good and the company was extraordinary. Can’t remember another night I had this much fun and, even though we didn’t see the sun come up, I’ll never forget it. I tried to document it but it was dark and unclear what everyone was doing. But you can watch a glimpse of the 29th of August 2017 below.
