OUAI and How My New Haircut Changed My Life

You’re probably very tired of reading about my new haircut. Sorry for the spam! But I feel obligated to talk about it, being that it was such a huge change in my life and even perfection. I remember reading about this on Garance Doré’s book. She writes about how she always felt her hair was inadequate and din’t suit her. Until the day she cut it short. At the time, I didn’t give a rats ass about someone’s hair and how it changed her life. Until this summer, when I did the same – and by accident nonetheless.

My actual intention was to cute a bit shorter, but through the shoulder. And the hairdresser, now one of my favorite people in the world, started cutting, and cutting, and cutting. In the beginning I felt like crying, because I thought it was too much. But then I realized, it’s just hair. It grows back. But a few weeks ago, I started thinking, what if I’m supposed to have short hair and I’m living a lie with it longer? There’s only another moment in my life when it was short as hell. And I hated it. But maybe, because I had no clue how to style it.

I feel fresher, lighter, take less time handling it…

Now, I feel like I’ve learned a few things and it’s actually (and literally) growing on me. I’m completely in love! I feel fresher, lighter, take less time handling it and feel like I have a whole new life in front of me. I was probably meant to have short hair, since ever, but was lacking the skills. Do you think that’s possible? It goes without saying that I’m probably growing my hair longer a few times in the future. But for now, I’m utterly infatuated.

And because I want to get the best out of my hair, I decided to see what all the fuss was about with OUAI. I’ve been reading and hearing about it and was highly curious to know what everyone was talking about. So I decided to order the newly released Curl Shampoo and Conditioner. I literally started using it yesterday so it’s too soon for a review. But so far, I love the smell, the texture and how it leaves my hair feeling like a cloud.

I feel like I want to buy most of the products and try them all together. They probably work better that way. But you can expect a post in the future about what I’m thinking and how it reflected on my hair health. Stay tuned!
