It’s amazing how something so simply as a haircut can change your overall look (and feel). On my weekend in Lisbon, I had an appointment at the only hairdresser I step foot in – booked months in advance. I was ready for something a little bit more different. My hair had been playing tricks on my for the past few months and I was sick of it. I knew I wanted it short, but maybe not this short. I felt like shedding a tear at the end but, instead, thought about how it’s going to grow faster than I ever want it to.
I had a few things on my to-do list in Lisbon. One of the most important one was stroll through the old part of town. And the most beautiful as well. I always loved going there, even when I was living in Lisbon. Walk through the neighborhoods, go up to the castle and the several different lookout points of the city. Unfortunately time was short so I only went to Alfama and the castle. Funny enough, I took my parents who’ve never been before.
Then came the little white dress.
I got dressed early in the morning that day and just wanted to wear something comfy. It ended up being breezy as well, and helped me resist the Lisbon heat. Little did I know that my new haircut would make me look a little Marilyn Monroe-esk. It’s definitely one of my top dresses (this and this being two others) for this summer and I can’t get enough of it. I just love a piece you can get all sorts of use out of. For once, it’s flattering, falls perfectly on my curves and, at the same time, can be worn up with a pair of classy sandals or down with some Vans.
Granted I ended up looking way more sophisticated than I wanted to, but I tried to own it and get used to it. It was especially amazing the contrast with the colorful streets of Alfama, in Lisbon. So ended up being the perfect choice.
