When Applying for a Job Becomes Your Full Time Job

This is the reality for a lot of people right now – including me. Even before I came to United States, I applied for jobs almost everyday. Since I got here, and checking my email history, I’ve applied for more than 272 jobs. That’s a big number. Every morning after I’ve had my breakfast, and sometimes while having it, I turn on my computer, go to job board websites and start applying. Always sending a nice and hopeful cover letter, always trying to be witty, smart and funny, hoping that this is going to be my big break.

The hardest part is getting all the negative answers (or none what so ever) that make you wonder if the problem is you or the fact that I need a visa to work in New York. It makes you question your work, your path, your career. I start to think if I’m good enough and next thing you know enter a spiral of doubts and insecurities. Not all days are like this, of course, and part of me always wants to believe the right opportunity is out there. And I believe that is true for everyone. No one said it’s easy, but it’s not always worth it. My only advice is perseverance, patience and meanwhile, making your dreams come true with a boutique blog.
