Trend Alert: Tropical Prints

Is there anything more summery than tropical prints? I’m talking George Clooney, circa 2011, in the movie The Descendants. I’ve always had a secret crush on prints like this. But their connotations were a bit negative. Now, everyone is wearing and talking about them. What constitutes a tropical print, you might ask. Palm trees, sure. Birds. Flowers. But also color schemes. The green, baby blue, orange, yellow, all transport us to Hawaiian meets summer and beach style. The eternal I’m on vacation feel.

This year, we don’t need to look at thrift stores or our brother’s closet in search of the perfect print. Just browse through your favorite stores, grab a piece and go Honolulu on it. Here’s some tropical prints inspiration and their matching buy equivalents.

Leaves are the ultimate #goals of tropical prints. Think palm trees. I got this skirt very recently, and you might’ve already seen it here. But I just know it’s one of those pieces I’ll be wearing all-summer-long. It’s a beautiful statement skirt with the perfect length and feminine touch. I paired it with an oversized striped shirt to tone down the gal vibez.

You might remember this ensemble from two years ago. But it actually feels like a million. I still love both the shorts and top as much as I did back then. And think they look as beautiful. Wear it to brunch, to dinner or even a wedding, like I did.

Another throwback shirt I can’t get enough of. When the pajama trend started, this was the only piece I utterly fell in love with. Almost a year and a half later, it’s still close to my heart. I grab it as soon as the weather is warmer and hang it where I can look at it every day. You can wear it with jeans, wrap skirts and/or culottes.

Of course there’s the more subtle of tropical prints. You can add just a touch of a pattern and still look chic as hell. I wore this dress a few weeks back, posted it to my stories and got a lot of messages about it. You can find a link here. I’m seriously considering wearing it to my first wedding of the season. What do you think?

Then came the birds. Another piece that I got asked a lot of questions. I got this dress right before going to Portugal and wore it there the first time. It’s such an exquisite piece – even though it’s hard to get it through the head. You can find it here.
