There’s Still Time to Cross Off Your 2016 To-Do List

I know it seems premature to be talking about the end of the year, but only natural we start to. Christmas ads are already being aired and the pressure is surely on for a brand new year. As it went by in a flash, I would like to take a few minutes to consider everything that happened. And even though it’s been a tough and difficult year, there’s still time to cross off your 2016 to-do list.

I’m all for setting up goals and collecting achievements. I work better that way. And this is a beam of hope, for those of us, who still feel like they want to do something by year’s end. Whether you have it written down, in your head or on your phone, it’s important to reach the end of 2016 with the sense of accomplishment and everything scratched off on that to-do list.

The thing you have to remember, which is also the most important, is that, you just have to start. I preach a lot about how it’s hard to start something. Especially if it’s something new and unfamiliar. Pursuing your dream career. Declaring your love for someone. Learn a new skill or language. Get fitter. Start a blog. It’s only a matter of availability and desire. As I said here, we are our own worst enemy. And overall, we are only stopping ourselves from becoming or doing everything we set out for.

To-do lists keep you in check and on track. I’m not talking resolutions at all. But just a list of things you can do every day, week, month. Real goals like, not eating sugar today or, asking a friend on the other side of the Atlantic how’s it going. I often write down “text this person” or “call parents”. Not because I forget, but because I want to remember.

So worry not. There’s still plenty of time to start going after what you want. Even if it’s just a cupcake on Magnolia Bakery. Make sure you end this year with your to-do list at zero and your will to start another at 100! Let’s do this!
