With spring already here – and oh so moody – I figured it’s as good time as any to talk about my top five skin products worth investing. I’ve rounded up a few drugstore products I regularly buy and talked about the real-life stigma of cheap VS. expensive beauty products, but when it comes to skin care, I don’t joke around anymore, and if that means I have to spend a few extra bucks on a product, then so be it.
Much like food, there are skin and make-up trends that come and go – Korean beauty products are very in right now, for example – but some of them are here to stay and significantly improve our overall complexion. Here’s my top five skin products worth investing, with a few options for every type.
Moisturizer: Shiseido, Estée Lauder, Laura Mercier, La Roche Posay, Chanel, Clinique and Fresh.
Moisturizer is one of the most important things in our skin care routine, so it’s vital to take your time and find one that really fits your skin type and basic complexion needs. For me it’s the forever amazing Effaclar H from La Roche Posay (as you can see here).
Serum: Estée Lauder, Estée Lauder, Perricone MD, Kate Somerville, Caudalie, Dior.
Serums are a somewhat new addition to the skin care routine – and we can now see very affordable and high quality options out there. I’ve been using for the past two years the Estée Lauder’s Advanced Night Repair but I’m honestly tempted to try out different versions of the same product.
Toner: Estée Lauder, NARS, Thayers, Dior, Bioderma.
As I would’ve find out, toners are an extremely important step in the cleaning process of the skin and they help remove any remaining make-up and prepare your skin for the next product you apply.
Mask: AmorePacific, Estée Lauder, Shiseido.
Masks are something I talked about recently and feel like they make a huge difference when used the right way. The results show instantly the next day and you can see how all the components come together to create a singular effect: visibly smoother skin.
Facial Cleanser: Clinique, Clarisonic, Shiseido.
More than the toner, a facial cleanser helps us remove the city dirt after a long day out. They don’t just clean, but also help purify the skin and return to its original baby feeling. I’ve been using the Clinique Sonic but thinking about trying out the Clarisonic – which I’ve heard and read wonders.
