Secret Ingredient

Remember this last detox recipe I posted? After that, I started researching a little bit more about turmeric and its benefits and, it turns out, 2016 is going to be the year of turmeric! What’s normally used as a cooking spice, is now known to work wonders when added to your beauty routine. Especially when mixed with other ingredients, its properties are crazy good and you will be surprise to find that most of them, are already in your kitchen.

To Drink:
You can mix turmeric in your smoothies, cereal or yogurt, just like I showed you here. I’ve been incorporating it in my soup, some of my smoothies and a few of my afternoon snacks.

There’s also another way of going at it with coconut milk, ginger and turmeric. Bring the mix to a boil, simmer for a few minutes and take it off heat, let it cool down for about 10 minutes before you drink it. It helps you digest food, prevent acne and your overall skin look.

For Skin:
Adding turmeric to your skin care regime turns out to be great. You can mix it with raw honey and make a face mask, or even apply to your pimples, helping you soothe your skin and give you a healthy glow. Just make sure the honey container says raw.

You can also do a papaya and turmeric mask. Peeling and mashing the papaya with a teaspoon of turmeric will brighten up your skin. Leave up to 15 minutes and remove it with gentle warm water scrubs.

Mixing it with yogurt and chickpea flour also gives you a great thick face mask. After applying it, wait for it to dry and then remove it with warm water, which leaves your skin like a baby’s.

Do you know any other turmeric benefits? I would love to know!
