Mood improving colours

There’s a lot to say about colors. Yesterday night I was reading this Vogue article and it got me thinking about the importance of colors. I’ve been studying them since my first year of college and in marketing, they play one of the most important roles: captivating. We learn that cleaning products are more associated with blues and greens and cookies with yellows and whites. There’s a whole psychological explanation for it but, overall, colours tend to trigger certain feelings and memories. The article was about how colours can change your mood and a newbie Vogue journalist tried, for one week, with the help of their Senior Fashion Editor, Jorden Bickham and Market Editor, Kelly Connor, to dress up in colours and patterns – a change from her somewhat monochromatic-since-ever-look. The results were pretty cool. She tells that she no longer feels silent or hunched but jolty and confident. She says that some of the looks give her a boost of bombastic confidence and energy. Needless to say that we all experience different emotions on different days and, particularly on those ugly, cloudy, moody days. But, we can pretty much boost our mood with a pop of colour in our wardrobe. I’ve been perfecting that technic over the years and have to say I kind of succeeded. I have a good combination of colours, patterns and monochromatic items that I pair up in different ways every time. Of course I go through those all-black-days but still keep in mind that a blue pair of shoes or funky scarf can get me a long way.
