Amazon has been – for years – my online shopping destination for books. I got it from my father, who is probably their biggest client. It’s so easy to shop there; you just pick the title of the book you want and, to encourage you to buy more, Amazon even suggests similar books with the same topic. Some of them even let you pick inside to see if it really is what you want. Most of my design books came from Amazon and that says a lot.
Zara has been my second go-to website, and first for clothing, for the past year. It’s kind of an obsession browsing through their pages to find out what’s new and just ordering a few items I like. I’ve never been disappointed, everything always fitted perfectly and there was only one time I took two items back – just because I thought they weren’t for me. Other than that, Zara will continue to be my favourite online store.
I’ve used Topshop online store three times now. The first two were in Portugal and the third, and most recent, was here in New York. For the first time I was completely satisfied. Everything came, it fits and there’s no unnecessary emails or calls back and forth. In Portugal, I ordered two items that came three sizes bigger than what I ordered. It took almost a month to arrive and then to send the package back was a hassle. Also the customer assistance wasn’t the most efficient one. I was always being put on hold and passed from one person to another, having to explain what was going on. I almost lost faith but, fortunately for them and me, third time’s a charm.
Macy’s appears to be a good online store to order from when you don’t want to have the hassle of going to the actual store. You just go to their website, look for what you need and order it. The best part is, they have a lot of good package deals, they come in Goody Bags and bring a lot of samples. Some of them for men and some for women. In two or three days – if you are in North America – the package arrives.
I recently also did my first purchase at Nordstrom and was completely satisfied with it. I ordered the Converse x Missoni sneakers – the ones on the right end – and the package came within days of the order. Granted, they sent me an email saying that it would come on one day and it came two days later, but I called customer service and the guy was so, so, so nice that I ended up apologising and wishing him a very good day. Overall, it was a positive experience.
