So the hot chocolate is not necessarily a typically american recipe, truth be told, it goes back to the Aztec period and was brought to Europe by Mexicans but, the hot chocolate with marshmallows was supposedly created by north americans. Which brings me to tackling another recipe, fairly simple to do, and perfect for winter.

Around Christmas time, M gets a few gifts from clients, as a way of thanking him and wishing a merry Christmas. One of his clients gave him a jar with some chocolate and marshmallows inside, which I thought was adorable. It wasn’t until recently that I started doing hot chocolate and, I have to say, I’m rapidly becoming a fan, especially because of the melted marshmallows.

Ingredients: chocolate or cocoa powder, almond or coconut milk and marshmallows.

Recipe: pour a glass of preferred milk into a small pan and let it come to a boil. Remove from the heat and add the chocolate, stirring it in circular movements. Place the hot chocolate into a bowl and add the marshmallows, making sure they are all submerged and soft.

Extra tip: if you are drinking it at night, make sure not to add a lot of the chocolate or cocoa, it can be too sugary after dinner. Replace it for the desert!
