Nowadays it’s easier to pick clothes that are both work and happy hour appropriate – meaning, your blazer can look cool with a mojito. I came up with the idea for this post a few weeks back when I was working at the office the whole day (more on that later) and then a friend asked if I wanted to get a drink after. I immediately said yes, because I needed to unwind, but felt very unhappy hour appropriate. I came up with a few options to be ready for both meetings and a cocktail with some small and simple tricks.

While I understand that not all work environments allow their employees to show some skin, you can always substitute for a nice shirt or camisole, adapting to your personal situation. In this case, for work, I applied a darker and more serious shade of lipstick with a high ponytail and for happy hour, let my hair loose and went for a bolder and coral lipstick.

For me, comfort is always key and, if there are no serious business to deal with or meetings, I figure I go for a flat pair of shoes. If you still have room in your bag, pack a pair of cute mules and you are good to go.

If you’re sure you’re going somewhere, you can always plan ahead and dress for both work and happy hour. When the time comes, just do a small edgy twist, like tying up your shirt or bringing a spare crop top, and adding hoop earrings.
