Ever since I came back from Portugal I started feeling a little bit sick. Everyone was sick back home with the flu or a cold and I had these recipes in store for an upcoming post but, what better time to do them than now that I’m fighting it myself. I love looking for smoothie and juice recipes because I feel they are a fun way to start the day and help me keep creative in the kitchen.I found two amazing juice recipes that help you keep your immunity system and energy levels up, making the recovery that much tastier. I know when we’re sick we, normally, don’t want to move, but both these recipes are worth the struggle because they almost automatically make you feel better.
THE IMMUNE CHAMPION
This bad boy has a base of carrots, oranges and lemons which boosts our system with vitamin C – a well known ingredient that helps fight flu.
Ingredients:
3 carrots,
1 pear,
1/2 lemon juice,
1 1/2 oranges,
Water.
Recipe:
Peel and chop the carrots and oranges into small chunks, cut the pear in four pieces and add everything to your blender. Blend for about 30 seconds and than add water to liquify everything, blending for an extra minute.
THE REFUELER SMOOTHIE
When I first starting making this refueler smoothie, I thought the taste wouldn’t be right but, as it turns out, it was amazingly soft, the right amount of sweet and not at all that green juice taste we are used to. This smoothie is known for giving you a boost of energy because of its ingredients.
Ingredients:
8 oz. coconut milk,
2 1/2 handful of spinach,
1 small handful of kale,
1 cup of frozen pineapples (or fresh if you can get your hands on it),
Dash of cinnamon,
Water.
Recipe:
Start by adding the coconut milk to the bottom of the blender, or wherever you’re doing your smoothie, the two handful of spinach and the kale. Blend for about 20 seconds and add the remaining of the ingredients – pineapples and dash of cinnamon. Blend for about 50 seconds until it’s all smooched and add a bit of water if it looks too clumpy. I hope you enjoy!
