This is the fourth and final installment of this series and, I figure, the most complex recipe out of the four, or at least the one that takes a bit more time preparing (1, 2, 3): fruit smoothie with turmeric. Turmeric is a herb from the ginger family, a powerful antioxidant and liver detoxifier, that can be used in meat, fish, vegetables, smoothies or diluted in warm water with lemon.
Ingredients: for this particular smoothie I used strawberries, blueberries, half an avocado, coconut milk and turmeric. You can add whichever fruit you prefer.
How to: chop the strawberries and add them to a blender with the blueberries, half avocado, coconut milk, a little water if necessary and a teaspoon of turmeric. Blend everything until it has a creamy texture with no lumps and serve it right away.
Note: you can always skip the water and add a spoon full of plain yogurt or low fat ricotta cheese and turn it into a mousse. I’d rather drink it as a smoothie in the morning, helping me start my day more energetic and as a great supplement for before or after the gym.
