I was always a birthday person, ever since I was little, my mother used to throw me amazing birthday parties with all my friends and family, home made cakes, sandwiches and juices and, of course, a lot of games. When I turned 12, the tradition shifted and I started organizing dinner parties with friends followed by a movie and, later into my teens, a night out. When I moved to Dubai, the first birthday spent there didn’t make a lot of sense, being away from home and what feels normal, but I still had a dinner party and went out with a few friends.
It’s always bittersweet to be away from my parents, especially on celebrations, and this year is no different. I didn’t even think about my birthday until my mother asked me what my plans were and I honestly have no idea! What I do know though, is how to make wish lists, which I used to make every year – and I still remember when I got that Sony stereo for my room! It helps me gather the things I’m currently craving while still giving hints to M (wink wink).
