Come summer and something around here and about me shifts – I’m pretty sure with almost everyone. People get happier, things get lighter, nights get longer and there’s always something to do. I’ve perfected this shift throughout the years, especially because back at my parents house the difference is abismal! The fridge is always full, the drinks are always pouring, fruit is abundant and the windows and doors are always opened. To make it feel a bit like home, I introduced a few traditions and must-haves in the apartment, starting with the snacks and drinks. I always have some cheese, fresh lemon and dried fruit to nip on when I’m working, or if someone comes to visit. Talking about drinks, Corona for M and Rosé for me, I love enjoying a glass in the evening either by the window or relaxing after a full day. This one is divine!
I’ve been picking up fresh fruit at least twice a week. We eat a lot of it, especially as a snack between meals, so it’s important for me to always have some in the fridge. My favorites: peaches, strawberries, watermelon and prunes.
TIP: They’re also great for a short noticed sangria, just slice a few peaches and strawberries, rosé wine or some sparkly wine, a splint of 7Up, mint and ice. Mix everything up and it’s ready to serve!
Following traditions from back home, the window tends to be always opened. We have a net that prevents bugs or anything from getting in and, given that our apartment is quite warm, the fresh air feels really, really nice. I also fill the apartment with flowers, the smell, colors and freshness make the space come to life and everything look a lot more cheerful and beautiful.
