A few weeks ago I was browsing through this article and found the website minted.com. Amongst other things, Minted is a marketplace of independent artists and they sell framed art of a hand full of artists. I was astonished by the collection and, to be honest, very impressed. It’s not everyday you get to see so many beautiful prints, illustrations and paintings done in such a modern and appealing way. Being a graphic designer, I highly appreciate unique art – although I haven’t had the opportunity to get into it for financial reasons – and, especially, when artists get recognition and are paid for their work.
Art was always a big part of my family, my mother is a very creative and visually expressive person and my brother, well, my brother is a great artist (check out his work here). It feels natural to me to get into these kinds of initiatives and see creative work be appreciated. I spent hours and hours browsing through minted.com galleries and even checked out a few prices. Some of them are not that expensive but you really have to be into the whole idea to spend a few bucks. The good thing is, they have so much variety and different styles, there’s something for everyone to enjoy, and think about the artist community you are supporting!
