Every Christmas, this phenomenon happens to most of us common people: last minute Christmas shopping. There always seems to be something missing and we go aloof just thinking about it. I’ve tried to develop several techniques for the last few years that help through this chaotic time that is Christmas and its shopping. I’m sharing these tips to help make your life a hell of a lot easier.
First and foremost, you have to be organized. I start by noting down the people I’m buying gifts for and exactly what I have in mind to given them – or at least the category of gift (e.g. skin products, make-up, clothes). I sort out a day to go and try to buy
as much as I can, at least three weeks before Christmas.
Browse through the internet to see what’s out there. It’s a way to get you prepared and, at least, when and if you go, you already have something in mind. It’s a good technique for any shopper, to know in hand what they’re getting in to.
When you actually go shopping, go as early as possible. I normally wake up early, get ready and try to be at the stores or the shopping mall by the time they open. I used to make a morning out of it. Would grab my breakfast at a bakery, relax for a bit while sipping coffee or tea and then hit the stores by 10AM, as soon as they open. The stores are highly organized, there’s not a lot of people and the lines, to try or buy, are almost non-existing.
If you don’t like waking up early or going to the chaotic-like stores, just shop online. It can get tricky if you’re buying clothes but it’s a more comfortable and enjoyable way of getting things done, literally at the click of your mouse.
Lastly, enjoy as you gaze upon those who are still running around by December 24th and you are in the comfort of your home preparing for Christmas Eve!
