The Party Layer

Back in 2016, I started seeing a comeback of the turtleneck. Personally, I was not ready for it. But just last year, I got into it yet again. But now, it’s getting a very anticipated upgrade and being called the party layer for the winter season of 2019. What it means, basically, is that, it’s becoming thinner, recreational and absolutely more fun. I’ve been eyeing these from Acne Studios for a while now. But back in Portugal, I actually snatched a couple of them at Stradivarius.

This is pretty much an iteration of a layered look. Especially if you live in a city that gets often below 0º (or 32º Fahrenheit). My take on it is, that it’s particularly great because, when you have winter for as much as 8 months in a row, creativity plays a big role. You have to re-imagine looks and figure out ways to make them fun. How many knit-and-pant combos can you have?

Bold materials are a must. So we can look for patterns, ribbed, sheer, sparkly. It all feels very 80’s nostalgia. And the idea is to transport this party layer to the streets. I’ll keep my eyes on this party layer from Acne for now, but there are amazing options at other stores, like this and this. Don’t forget to look in your trusty second hand store or app. I surely have been.
