As I’m writing this, New York is boiling. It’s really hard to get anything onto my legs. I can’t remember the last time I put on a pair of jeans. But a few weeks ago, I was scouting some stores on fifth avenue, and found myself trying on fall clothes. I went home with only two pieces, and these pants were one of them. I’m still figuring out how I can wear them. And mostly at home, with the air conditioning on, at a very low temperatures.
There were two days last week when the air was cooler. I thought it would be the perfect opportunity to bust the new pants. I was wrong. Even though, I’ve tried them on with several different tops, shirts and even a jacket. The reason why I’m not fully excited, is because of the length. Unfortunately, my legs are not as long as you’d think, and culottes are usually tricky. I actually shot this look with two different shoes; the ankle booties and slides. Predictably, I ended up preferring the booties.
I have a new found sense of shopping, which helps me see through the things I’ll be wearing for various seasons, and ones I’ll wear only one. These are keepers and, especially this rusty color that screams fall. I’ll be trying them out with a white lace top, a t-shirt and a cardigan, and this yellow silk top.
