I finally found it. No, no talking about love or perfect burger. But dress. Little black dress. What I hope will be a piece I wear a lot, because it fits like a glove, it’s comfortable, loose and revealing enough. What more could I ask for? It was a long way to go, and I’m sure something better will come along in my lifetime. But, for now, I’m sticking to this gorgeous piece, I got on a whim.
It was a rainy afternoon, I was browsing through the Mango website. They have been getting better and better and, even though I’m trying to boycott fast fashion stores, I caved and bought this little black dress. And wore it immediately the next day it arrived. I felt so good, confident and elegant that I didn’t think twice. I got home, ripped off the tag and kept it. Haven’t had a chance to wear it again, but I feel like I want to try and pair it with some sneakers and a ponytail.
A little black dress is the foundation of a good wardrobe basic. They are exactly that, a basic. A neutral piece you can reach for whenever you’re feeling uninspired. Which is what I do in case of a missing a-ha piece. I’ve been re-thinking my whole wardrobe, and a lot of my life lately. That’s why I haven’t been posting here nor here. At least not consistently. I want to slowly re-do my whole wardrobe. Sort of like decorating your house. I’ve been selling a lot of my clothes online, which has been helping me sort through the mess.
The thing is, I feel like everything in my life is very inconsistent. My attitudes, my thoughts, my patterns. And also, my wardrobe. There’s a whole lot of things, but none that I was reaching for. I kept running back to the same pieces and that was telling me something. I just wasn’t listening. I feel like I’m moving in the right direction and getting rid of the things I don’t love and keeping the things I truly love. Which will also help me create a more consistent style. If that makes sense.
Meanwhile, sharing a few other little black dress options I’m loving:
