After such a long winter, New York sprung this past weekend. We had two beautiful days of perfect summer. And I wasn’t about to throw them away. So, I decided to pull some beautiful spring pieces and take them to Brooklyn. Because I’m still transitioning season’s, I felt like this beautiful linen dress could be too much on its own. Hence, the Mr. Larkin denim jacket.
I actually found Mr. Larkin last year on an Instagram rant. And even though I didn’t immediately followed the page, it kept showing up on the explore tab. The aesthetic is very summery, low contrast, very colorful and detailed. The same rant also led me to Lisa Says Gah, which is a collective of brands that I follow intently. Another aesthetic I love.
Then, two weeks ago, I saw the brand live for the first time. Their pieces are irresistibly cute, the fabrics are soft, a little wrinkly, but nothing a good steamer can’t fix. This jacket is flowy, light and inspired by this painting. Which makes it even better. I tried it a few different ways before deciding to layer onto this dress. I love the contrast of the two blues against a nautical themed facade.
