All Black and a Vintage Looking Coat

This was the first outing of this vintage looking coat. You might’ve already seen it here, here and here. It’s been on rotation lately and not for it’s warm qualities but because it’s such a great looking piece. The structure of the coat is amazing as is the pattern and color combination. These were taken on a very sunny day in SoHo. Me and M went out for lunch and snapped them right around 1pm.

I’ve actually been taking a photography course online. And one of the things it taught me was to not take pictures at this hour. Even though there’s a lot of natural light, it’s certainly not the most flattering. I honestly love it because of the natural brightness and how it reflects on the vintage looking coat. That said, it’s a hard light because it creates a lot of strong shadows. Especially on the face. If your angle is wrong, a lot can get covered up.

Another thing I learned, and already had figured by myself, is that natural light is the best. Whenever you want to snap outfit of the day pictures, try to do it outside with as much light as possible. Things will certainly look sharper and the results are always more beautiful.
