When Your Velvet Jacket Matches Your Hair

I got this velvet jacket when I went to Portugal this past summer. It was almost an impulse buy, but I fell in love with it. The color, the touch, the effect. There’s something about it. But besides one or two opportunities, I never got to wear it. Maybe because it felt too heavy for fall. And it was so pretty to look at. Plus, it matches my hair.

Then for my birthday, my husband got me these Vans leopard old school sneakers – proof that he is starting to get me. And I got the slim boyfriend jeans for Black Friday (score!). And just like that, I had an outfit ready. All that was missing was the top. I tried on a few camisoles, two sweaters and some shirts. But nothing seemed to fit. It was a pretty cold day, so obviously I wanted to bundle up. But when I opened the drawer where I have my t-shirts and tops, it clicked. I don’t even know how I didn’t think of this shiny top sooner.

I got it last year and wore it on Thanksgiving day. It was the first sort of mid-lenght-turtleneck I got in a while. But I think the shape is so flatering, classic and timeless.

Aren’t we all striving to achieve that look?

Of course I’ve seen a few street style pictures on Pinterest of the jeans and the coat. And since I’m all about trying new trends, I got the fishnet socks. I feel like the look is a mix of punk-rock-cool-relaxed-chick. I honestly love it and cannot wait to wear it more come spring. Even though, wearing it for winter just means frosting the look with a huge coat on top.
