Princess From The Block and Pink Pleated Culottes

There are some days when you just want to free your princess side. My husband calls me that sometimes and, this particular day, I took it quite literally. I still have a very fantasized way of looking at the classic princess – almost like a unicorn vomited on her. Which I kind of love! I decided to embrace the cheesiness and vomit and put together this bad-ass rock-n-roll princess inspired outfit. I also decided to call it princess from the block and pink pleated culottes.

You might’ve seen a variation of these in black here, and they are sort of what dreams are made of. I’m in love with the pink color and formality of the piece. While also finding it challenging to actually wear them without looking too girly.

I wore this for brunch with a few friends back from Portugal in a scolding hot, but very cloudy day. Turns out the denim jacket was too much but essential for the ensemble. A girl’s got do right? I love the contrast of the rough West Village background against the softness of the pink pieces. It was also an amazing combination of pajama and rock. Particularly good for a Sunday when you want to extend the cuddling-in-bed feeling.

And of course, how could I forget about my favorite Converse. I actually love these sneakers, but the fact is, they hurt me quite a bit after a while of walking. And when you’re in New York, you’re going to walk. I’ve had them for at least two years so, let’s see if third year’s a charm.

I would love your suggestions on how to wear these!
