Not a Monday person

We all dread that Sunday feeling when we realize Monday is quickly approaching. Early wake up alarms, commuting, biking or walking to work, sleepy face, no will to start the week, emails pilled up to answer. I almost know the feeling. Working from home, you don’t get that feeling as much but still, you have to face it like a normal labor day. There are a few tricks I figured to try and fight those Monday blues away – pretty much similar to becoming a morning person.

Make your favorite breakfast.

I always look forward to breakfast. Besides being the most important meal of the day, it’s where I become creative and get unpredictable. It can be pancakes, granola and yogurt, fruit and crackers, waffles and cream cheese or whatever I’m in the mood. I love making breakfast and it gives me such joy to eat a tasteful and thoughtful meal.

Think of Monday as the beginning of an opportunity.

Yes, your days may be all the same if you have the home-work-home routine. But think about everything you can get done during the week. Always postponing exercising? Do it on Monday, it’s proven that you can get the most of it in the beginning of the week rather than starting at the end.

Get yourself or someone else something new.

Not every Monday, but now and then, it’s nice to reward yourself and/or the ones around you, even if it’s a small thing. From time to time, I like to get M a small gift to thank him for everything he does for me, for being there and for loving me. It can be a cookie, a shirt or a perfume. It will surely make you feel better either way.

End the day with a cocktail or a glass of wine.

I realize this may not apply to everyone but it sure helps me get through the day and reach the end, relax and enjoy a special cocktail. Whether in a bar, rooftop (now that summer’s almost here) or in the comfort of your home. Be bold, buy the ingredients and just enjoy it before dinner.

Always feel grateful to get to enjoy another day.

I know this might sound spiritual-seize-the-day-kind-of-thing, but it’s true. Having a chance to have another day, to work, to socialize, to show the ones we love that we actually love and cherish them should be rewarding enough. I’m not usually one to tell you that each day matters and that you should always make them count, but it’s good and important to feel excited about life and the chance to live it.
