Sunday in Brooklyn

Picture taken from my iPhone.

Today was one of the most enjoyable sunday’s I’ve had since getting to New York. We woke up without an alarm clock, stayed in bed for a while enjoying the laziness, had breakfast and slowly got ready. Took the car and went through the Long Island Express Way. Our intention was to go to Manhattan, leave the car there and go to Brooklyn through the Brooklyn Bridge – we still haven’t crossed it. But there was a lot of traffic so we decided to stay on this side. We went to see an exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum called Killer Heels: the art of the high-heeled shoe. The Brooklyn Museum is this big old looking building in a broad street – which reminded me one of the main streets we have in Lisbon, Avenida da Liberdade or Liberty Avenue – and has a very welcoming entrance with benches and the Botanic Garden to its right. The exhibition was okay, I think it needed better lighting and shoe display, being very crowded it’s hard to see the shoes properly. It showed the shoe inspiration throughout the years and it tells interesting stories. Then we walked through the avenue and had lunch in a close by place. It was sunny, warm enough and the perfect afternoon. I just love the Brooklyn vibe. Hope you’re having a great sunday as well.
